The Friends of St Matthew’s is a volunteer group of parents, caregivers and grand parents of St Matthew’s students. The function of The Friends is to fundraise for items or projects for the school that may not be in the school’s budget. The Friends aim to provide resources, equipment and facilities which further enhance the opportunities offered to students at the school. Projects are targeted to benefit the widest number of girls.
Recent fundraising achievements have been the purchase of four large House gazebos for the girls to gather for school events such as Athletic Sports and Swimming Sports. Previous fund raising achievements have been:
- a sizeable contribution to the extension of the gymnasium
- a sizeable contribution for the centennial sculpture
- heating system for the pool
- choir robes and scarves for Viva Camerata
- cricket nets
- playground swing-set
Being a member of The Friends is not only a fun way of being involved in the school environment and meeting new people, but it is also extremely rewarding seeing efforts transform into invaluable assets for the school.
The work The Friends does benefits not only present students, but also future generations of students to enjoy. Current parents, old girls, grandparents …. all are welcome!
